It is a historical simulation which focuses on early jet fighter combat in the Korean War — specifically, the so-called MiG Alley in northwestern North Korea, for which the game is named.
One of the interesting aspects of the game is the closeness in overall performance between the main combat fighter aircraft — the MiG and the F Sabre. Even the padlock view, which was a let-down in Flying Corps works pretty well.
I've yet to fly an early '50s jet fighter in real life, but having flown later ones it appears that the flight models are pretty accurate. Rowan have concentrated on what they see as the two most important aircraft - the MiG and the F Sabre - so the others have suffered a little, but that doesn't make them bad, just not quite as different as they might be.
Rowan have obviously done their homework, and all the nasty things such as transonic buffet and aileron reversal which lurked around the corner waiting to bite your bum have been modelled - it's a nice surprise to try and pull out of a power dive only to discover that nothing works as it should.
And you can pull out so hard that the wings start climbing while the rest of the plane keeps diving. At this point, ejecting is normally a good idea. And there's more. And early jets weren't exactly built to take lots of punishment - a good burst of gunfire and they go down. Which is fine if you're on the right end of the guns, not so cool if you're not. This is it.
Now you can enjoy the awesome MA, with everything turned up to 11, with trackir, modern joysticks etc. And you will spend half of the time in this game doing CAS and ground attacks! Korean war is forgotten and such few flight sims about it. Wasn't much though. Just air patrol missions over the Yalu river and bombing runs over Pyongyang and elsewhere. THis game is good. Its the best Korean war air sim they got. In the final campaign you get to be the Big Air Marshall as well as a pilot.

When the game mission starts and the game uses the SW renderer, it is possible to change to HW renderer, BUT the resolution used initially has to be maintained. For example on switching to HW rendering, if the resolution is changed from, say x to x, the game may crash immediately on continuing or the next time you access the preferences menu. So if the original resolution is x, then that should be used again after a change in the menu.
The problem mentioned in the first point doesn't take place in this situation because the initial renderer is SW. Error "Could not aquire analogue device 0" is very mysterious to me. Many things could be used to remove it, like increasing the graphics settings to the max, running the game as an administrator, changing the resolution, changing color settings in the compatibility settings, but the most promising one till now to me is to use "Windows XP SP2 compatibility", as I didn't encounter it anymore when used it.
I am not certain as to what's causing this issue and never ever did I see it mentioned anywhere, so the remedy to this may vary, even away from the ones mentioned here.
